Connected Entities

Through investigation, the following entities have been identified as part of the telemarketing infrastructure targeting veterans on IHL's behalf:

Advanced Mode Communications d/b/a amcomlabs Kirkland, WA. Operates the SignalWire telephony account controlling all spoofed numbers used in the campaign. Account holds 519,900 phone numbers including 7,450 Maryland numbers.
ReadyMode (formerly Xencall) Predictive dialer platform used to place calls. 10 @readymode.com user accounts found in the same SignalWire account alongside 12 @amcomlabs.io accounts.
Jason Jantz CEO of ReadyMode. Billing contact for the amcomlabs SignalWire account.
Premier Marketing Firm Lead-generation vendor that placed at least one call that was warm-transferred to an IHL loan officer.

The Business Model

IHL operates using a common but problematic model in the mortgage industry:

1

Lead Generation via Predictive Dialer

Third-party telemarketers use the ReadyMode predictive dialer platform (via amcomlabs) to mass-dial veterans from an inventory of 519,900 phone numbers, using spoofed local numbers to appear legitimate.

2

False Pretenses

Callers use names implying VA affiliation ("VA Mortgage Pipeline," "Veteran Financial Services," "Veteran Services") and claim to be providing "education" about VA benefits.

3

Warm Transfer to IHL

Interested or confused veterans are warm-transferred to IHL loan officers (such as Owen James Dixon and Matthew Huss) who attempt to sell refinancing products.

4

Persistent Follow-up

Even after explicit refusals, the calls continue relentlessly. One veteran received 90 calls including one placed two months after a cease-and-desist was sent.

Why Veterans Are Targeted

Veterans with VA home loans represent an attractive target for predatory mortgage companies:

  • Known Equity: VA loan records indicate homeownership and approximate loan amounts
  • Stable Income: Veterans often have reliable income from VA disability benefits or military pensions
  • Trust in VA Programs: Veterans naturally trust communications that appear to come from or be associated with the VA
  • Available Data: Mortgage and property records are accessible, making targeted marketing possible

How They Obtain Your Information

The telemarketers calling on behalf of IHL possess detailed information about their targets, including:

  • Full name and current address
  • VA loan status and approximate balance
  • Current property value estimates
  • Phone numbers (including personal cell phones)

This information is typically obtained through:

  • Public property records and mortgage filings
  • Data brokers who compile and sell consumer information
  • Lead generation companies that aggregate veteran data
  • Potentially improper access to private databases
